About Prairie EMS
In 1991 Rob Hargreaves purchased his first Ambulance service which was known as Lake Land Ambulance service. Since then Rob has incorporated several ambulance services under the name Prairie Emergency Medical Systems. PEMS has slowly grown since 1991. Prairie Emergency Medical Systems provides EMS care that is professional, cost effective and accountable to the communities in which it serves. Rob believes that each community has its own unique needs for ambulance service which needs to be taken into consideration when providing effective care.
Over the years, Prairie EMS has developed a system that can supply the highest level of service at the most affordable cost for the community. PEMS has incorporated performance goals that make the service accountable to the community.
Prior to 1996, all of PEMS contracts were basic life support services and they have since evolved to where all services are either advanced life support or can offer ALS backup from another PEMS service.
PEMS also provides inter-facility transfers in the regions in which they operate. BLS level of services are supplied dependent upon the patient’s condition and needs.
In the past, PEMS has also provided emergency and clinical care at a gold mine in Kyrgyzstan. This contract provided PEMS with experience working at altitude which presents a new set of challenges.
